Matthew Walsh, O.D., FCOVD

Dr. Matthew Walsh is an optometrist providing developmental optometry and optometric vision therapy.

Dr. Walsh graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology & Cell Science. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science and a Doctorate of Optometry, graduating with honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. He completed the Irwin B. Suchoff Residency in Vision Therapy & Rehabilitation from the SUNY State College of Optometry in Manhattan. Afterwards, he spent three years as a full-time faculty Instructor in the Pediatrics & Binocular Vision Department at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry teaching the next generation of optometrists. He continues to serve as an adjunct faculty Instructor.

In order to provide the most thorough and innovative care, Dr. Walsh continually attends post-graduate education through the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). In 2013, he earned his Fellowship through COVD, which means he is board certified in optometric vision therapy and vision development.

Originally from New York, Dr. Walsh moved to southwest Florida at the age of five. He is an alumnus of Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Fort Myers. In his spare time, he loves watching sports (especially the Gators!), working out, and spending time with family and friends. He currently lives in southwest Florida with his wife and fellow optometrist, Lauren.

Dr. Walsh is currently licensed in Florida and North Carolina. He is a member of COVD, Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEP), American Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control (AAOMC), American Optometric Association (AOA), Florida Optometric Association (FOA), and Southwest Florida Optometric Association (SWFOA). He is also a member of the Southwest Florida Gator Club.

Lauren A. Walsh, O.D.

Dr. Lauren Walsh is an optometrist providing Orthokeratology.

Dr. Walsh, a North Carolina native, attended North Carolina State University and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. Afterwards, she went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry degree with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. While there, she earned the ASCO Student Award in Clinical Ethics, the Rosemore Scholarship for clinical excellence, and membership into Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. As part of her training, she completed an externship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, which has been rated the #1 eye hospital in the country from 2004-2013. She also trained at Mastrian Optometric in Pennsylvania, where she acquired skills fitting soft, rigid, and hybrid contact lenses for the treatment of astigmatism, presbyopia, and other medical conditions. She has completed post-graduate training to fit Orthokeratology.

After graduation, Dr. Walsh practiced optometry in New York City where she could be close to her twin sister. In August 2012, she married Matthew, a pediatric optometrist, and they made southwest Florida their new home. She is the founder of Premier Eye Care of Naples.

When not seeing patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She is an avid NC State Wolfpack fan and enjoys cheering for the Florida Gators, too. She is an active member in the Collier County community as a board member of the Naples Junior Women’s Club and a 2016 graduate of Growing Associates in Naples™ (GAIN™). She also enjoys running, reading, baking, shopping, and being outdoors.

Dr. Walsh is currently licensed to practice in Florida and North Carolina. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control (AAOMC), American Optometric Association (AOA), Florida Optometric Association (FOA), and Southwest Florida Optometric Association (SWFOA).
